How has social networking different from more ancient/traditional forms of networking?
Social networking now allows people to communicate in different methods that may have not be accessible in the past, for example using mobile phones to instant message people that may live far from you or in different countries, where as before you would either send them a letter, email them or have to ring them up. social networking through instant messages allows the people to reply back instantly and without being disrupted too much if they are for example working.
Social networking is now much easier than before as their are apps on smartphones and laptops such as, facebook, Instagram, skype, facetime, whatsapp and viber that allow you to communicate with your contacts in an easy and free method, where as sending letters to someone would perhaps cost money for postage and the letter in general.
